How Do You Visit Steamboat Springs, Colorado?
At about 7,000 feet in the Colorado Rockies, Steamboat Springs has long had a reputation for skiing, but this Alpine setting also is a great place for mountain biking, hiking, bicycling, fishing, and just kicking back. It’s a real Western town, with an (artificial) horse on Main Street and an old fashioned ice cream parlor. Hot springs are common to the area. During winter holidays, skiing makes Steamboat Springs a very popular place to be, but during the rest of the winter and in the summer, the crowds diminish. All kinds of skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and snowshoeing are popular. In the summer, many of the residents who like to ski stay in shape by jogging, biking, or walking on the bike path that runs next to the Yampa River through the heart of town. It’s also fun to river raft in the summer. The Botanical Gardens is a very nice place to stroll. In summer, midday concerts are held on the lawn there.
