How Do You Visit Santa Fe, New Mexico?
Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico, lies about an hour’s drive north of Albuquerque, in the southern foothills of the Rocky Mountains. At over 7,000 feet above sea level, the town is the highest state capital in the U.S. Santa Fe is known for its historic downtown district, lined with adobe buildings, its many art galleries and the excellent skiing just outside of town. Plan your visit. Santa Fe has a small airport, but the town is most accessible by flying into Albuquerque airport, about an hour’s drive south of town. Accommodations in Santa Fe range from hotels to inns to bed and breakfasts, many of which are housed in adobe-style buildings. It is prudent to reserve your accommodations well in advance, as many of the area hotels sell out early. Stroll the downtown area. The buildings in Santa Fe’s historic downtown district, by law, must be maintained in the historic Pueblo adobe style and new buildings must be similarly constructed. The result is a charming district of flat-roofed
