How Do You Visit Pier 39 In San Francisco?
Located off The Embarcadero just east of Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 offers the visitor hours of entertainment, attractions, shopping, and dining. There are street performers, theater productions and a city aquarium. Off the west side of the pier, sea lions float on a stationary dock and bark. The pier is an entertainment destination in an area of San Francisco already full of things to do and see. Plan the visit in the fall when the flow of visitors diminishes somewhat. Make hotel reservations in the Fisherman’s Wharf area. The rooms can get pricey, but the accommodations warrant the price. More affordable rooms are available in the Bay Area suburbs. Make reservations for an afternoon cruise to Alcatraz Island. Tickets are easier to get than at peak season and the boat launches just a few piers east. By mid-afternoon, the coastal fog will have burned off. Opt instead to make reservations on the Blue and Gold Fleet. These boats take visitors out into the bay for up close views of Alcatr
