Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate was built between 1788 and 1791, the sole survivor of several elaborate gates leading into the city. During the Cold War, the Brandenburg Gate, closed and surrounded by the Berlin Wall, became a symbol of the lack of freedom in Germany during that 30-year period. Today, the Wall is but a memory and visitors can walk through the gate and admire its classical beauty. Take the subway. The Brandenburg Gate is located on the southwest side of the Berlin.
