How Do You Vent A Gas Dryer?
If you have a gas dryer, it is imperative that you vent it outside. Just like your home furnace, when your gas dryer burns natural gas, it creates toxic gases like carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide as byproducts of combustion. These gases, if allowed to build up within your residence, can cause serious illness or even death to the occupants of the home. Vents typically consist of galvanized sheet metal ducting which is taped together to prevent the buildup of lint inside. Determine where your dryer vent will exit the home. Go outside and use your tape measure to transpose that location on to the exterior wall. Drill a pilot hole from the outside in and verify that your measurements were accurate. A 1/4-inch drill bit works great as a pilot hole. Take out the 1/4-inch drill bit out of your drill and insert a 4 1/4-inch hole saw.
