How Do You Vacation On An Archaeological Dig?
Did you know that you can join an Archaeological Dig? You can be a citizen scientist for a few days or up to a few months. You will see interesting places, learn new skills and help science and our understanding of history. I first became aware of these wonderful programs when I lived in Vermont. The University of Vermont often sponsored archaeological digs that the public could volunteer for. If you love history and science, this could be the perfect vacation for you…joining an archaeological dig. PICK BY LOCATION: Pick an archaeological dig site in an area of the world you would love to travel to. Are you interested in excavating an Egyptian ruin? An ancient Celtic site in Ireland? How about early American settlements in Vermont? UCLA has been offering a course that digs in Egypt, just as The University of Vermont hosts Revolutionary War and Abenaki Indian settlement digs in Vermont.
