How Do You Use Your Meade LX90GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope To Find True North?
Finding “true north” with your telescope is part of the “Automatic Alignment” process. Once you complete it, you telescope will be oriented and ready for use. Just follow these instructions. For the “Automatic Alignment” process, be sure that you have tightened the Dec and RA locks and correctly attached the Autostar to the telescope. Turn on the telescope. Press “0” to start the “Automatic Alignment” process. Press “0” to align or “Mode” for the menu on the display. “Automatic Alignment” will display. The telescope will automatically perform several procedures such as detecting the level of the base of the telescope, finding north, and attempting a GPS Fix. The telescope will align two stars to orient itself. This process starts when “Automatic Alignment: Selecting Star” and “Slewing” appear on the display.
