Knowing how to use a tide table is an important step to becoming an experienced boater. The tide table can give you information regarding when tides will be coming in and out and when they will be at their most stable conditions. Find a tide chart for the area that you are in. Tide charts can frequently be found at marinas and docks. Familiarize yourself with the way that the information on the tide chart is organized. You will see a list of high tide and low tide times. These are important for knowing how high the water is at a given time during the day. Find the two high tides on the tide table. Each day there are two high tides and two low tides. If you want to know the time of the first high tide of the day, then you need to use the first high tide time listed on the tide chart.
