Finding your way around the Second Life landscape of virtual creations can be difficult, especially when you first enter a location chosen at random by the computer. Beginners may find themselves surrounded by garish storefronts and goth avatars and think they’re stuck. Mini-maps to the rescue! A change of scene is just around the corner when you use this fast and easy tool. Here’s how. Visit the Second Life home page and register to use the site if you haven’t already done so (see the Resources section below). Fill out the information and select an avatar to use in the virtual world. Choose a membership level: free or a premium level.
