The History brush sits unused on the Adobe Photoshop® toolbar most of the time but it is handy when creating special effects or adding depth of field to an image. The brush works in conjunction with the History pallet. Open an image in Photoshop. Duplicate the background and work on the copy. This will preserve your original image in case you don’t like the changes you’ve made. Create the effects you will use. For this assignment, you’ll reverse the image by holding down CTRL + I. Notice that the image inverts, like the negative of a photograph. Locate the History palette on the right side of your screen. In the default mode, it is the middle box, right beside the Action tab. When you select the History tab, you will see tiny thumbnails of your original image and the new inverted one.
