How Do You Use Steam For Respiratory Problems?
Respiratory discomfort can be eased by inhaling steam using simple-to-use at-home method. Adding herbs or essential oils to the process may help reduce the chance of a secondary infection. Bring a pot of water to a boil and keep covered with a lid to retain the heat. Pour the water in a bowl. After testing for allergic reactions, add aromatic herbs or essential oils to the water. Cover the head with a towel and make sure that the sides are totally closed, forming a tent over the bowl. Place your face about 12 inches above the bowl, keeping your eyes closed and breathing in the steam through the nose for 1 to 2 minutes. Raise the towel from time to time to bring fresh air into the area and breathe through the mouth a couple of times. Then resume breathing in the steam. Repeat the process as often as necessary to relieve the symptoms.
