Smart Media cards have declined in popularity with the rise of Compact Flash and Secure Digital memory, but many older digital cameras use them and some people still prefer them over other memory types. One primary advantage is their size. While they are wider and longer than Secure Digital cards, they are thinner. And, all of their dimensions are smaller than Compact Flash. Find the Smart Media slot on your digital camera. It is probably located behind a door on the side of the camera or by the battery compartment. Remove the Smart Media card by pressing on it gently. It releases, allowing you to easily pull it out of the camera. Place the Smart Media card back into the camera by positioning the metal connectors at the bottom and sliding it into the slot.
