How Do You Use Polypropylene Cutting Boards?
The traditional cutting board is made of hard wood, frequently maple, and costs a fortune. We’re lucky though, because modern technology has presented us with other options. One of the best is the polypropylene (plastic) cutting board. These are inexpensive and sturdy, and they can be sanitized easily by putting them in the dishwasher. Designate one cutting board for each food group. The beauty of these cutting boards is that they are inexpensive, but they won’t splinter, warp or dull knives. They also won’t be damaged by water as a wooden board would be. Try keeping several, one for meats and poultry, one for vegetables to be cooked, and one for salads and fresh items. Minimize wear and tear by reversing the board and using both sides. These boards aren’t as sturdy as wood, and they will eventually show hatching from knife cuts.
