How Do You Use Pay Dirt Soil Amendment?
What you put into the soil in a garden will determine the success of what grows out of it. To give your vegetable and landscape plants a good, healthy start, working the soil and adding amendments is essential. Soil amendments help aerate the soil, which is vital for the roots of your plants. They also aid in drainage, so that the roots of your plants aren’t constantly sitting in water. Paydirt, an organic soil conditioner and top dressing developed by Master Nursery Garden Centers, is composed of forest humus, bark fines, chicken manure and mushroom compost. Use it as you would any compost-type soil amendment. Dig into the soil with a shovel or a pitchfork, at least 6 inches, turning the soil as you work and crushing any large clods of dirt. Remove any roots, rocks or other debris that you find. Add a 3-inch to 4-inch layer of Paydirt and mix it in well with the existing topsoil.
