How Do You Use Old Windows For Stained Glass?
Recycle old windows into works of art by transforming them into stained glass. Look for windows with intact panes of glass for this project. The colored glass used to make stained glass designs is usually available in sheets up to 16 inches square although you can also purchase glass tiles in different shapes and sizes. Colored glass can sometimes be found at craft stores or glass and ceramic supply stores. Create a pattern by drawing on a piece of paper the same size as the glass area of the old window. Keep your design simple if you are new to designing stained glass windows. Carefully cut out each piece of the pattern with scissors. Arrange the pattern pieces together as they are cut so that you remember their proper placement. Place one pattern piece onto a piece of colored glass. Trace around the pattern piece with a marker to transfer the shape to the glass. Use a glass cutter to score the glass along one side of the shape.
