Lavender (Lavandula officianalis) essential oil is made from plants native to southern France and Persia. Long used for skincare, lavender is generally gentle enough to use on baby skin and sensitive adult skin.For minor burns that have not blistered and for sunburn, lavender essential oil can be applied to speed healing. One French researcher, Dr. Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, burned his hand while in the lab working. He reportedly plunged his hand into a tub of liquid lavender essential oil and found that his burned hand healed quickly and without scarring. Since that discovery, lavender has been used in many skincare products. Begin by cleansing the burned area with a gentle, non-abrasive soap such as liquid chamomile that is not scented. Glycerin soap without colors, dyes or any perfumes can also be used. Allow the area to dry thoroughly. Dab directly onto the burned area several small drops of lavender essential oil. Allow the area to be saturated and allow to air dry. Cover with a ban
