How Do You Use Household Bleach To Clean An RVs Rubber Roof?
Recreational vehicles often feature rubber roofs, which are thin protective barriers that are put on top of plywood. It is important that harsh chemicals are not used on the rubber, as these solvents can break down the rubber, causing it to deteriorate. Bleach is actually not recommended for cleaning an RV’s rubber roof, as it can penetrate rubber, loosening the glue that attaches the roof to the plywood and causing the roof to bubble. Mild dishwashing detergent is recommended instead. Squeeze approximately 1/2 cup of dishwashing detergent into a bucket. Dishwashing detergent has a degreasing agent that can clean the rubber without damaging it. Add water until bucket is sudsy and nearly full. Make sure ladder is secure. Bring up the bucket and brush with you and place them on the ladder shelf. Dip the brush into the soapy water and begin to scrub the rubber roof all the way around the RV.
