How Do You Use Home Teaching Techniques?
According to the National Institute for Literacy, kindergarten through 3rd grade is a critical time for beginning readers to develop the phonics, vocabulary, text comprehension and phonemic awareness skills needed to become fluent readers. Although these skills are learned in the classroom, children can also greatly benefit from parent-assisted home teaching techniques to ensure that their child will excel in reading, writing and math at an early age. The secret to effective home teaching is to draw children into learning through their own individual interests, have them repeat the exercises until they have committed the answers to memory and to reward them when they have consistently shown improvement at home and at school.
