GetDataBack is a software package that allows you to recover files that have been deleted or that are on an unreadable or damaged hard drive or thumb drive. The program uses advanced techniques to scan your drive for any and all data and helps you retrieve it once the scan is complete. GetDataBack is $79 for the NTFS version and $69 for the FAT version as of 2010. There is also a free trial version for both NTFS and FAT, but they do not allow you to restore your data; they only show you what you could potentially recover if you were using the paid version. Click on the “Start” button in the lower left corner of your screen and click on “My Computer.” Left click once on the hard drive from which you wish to recover data, and look at the information panel at the bottom or left of the window. Next to “File System:” it will say either NTFS or FAT. Use this information to decide which version of GetDataBack to use. Open GetDataBack and click on the bubble next to “I don’t know, use default
