How Do You Use Front & Rear Gun Sights?
Gun sights are used by a shooter to align the gun barrel properly with the target so that when the gun is fired, the exiting bullet will have a good chance of hitting the target. Improper alignment of the sights will usually result in missing the target when the gun is fired. It is not difficult to align gun sights but practice and attention to detail is a requirement. Pick up the gun and check to ensure that the gun is unloaded. Locate the front and rear sights, check to make sure they are undamaged and that they are properly attached to the gun barrel. Raise the gun to eye level, keeping your head erect. Do not tilt your head. Align and center the front post sight within the rear open sight–usually an open square or rectangle. Keep the front post sight centered in the rear open sight while you adjust the gun so that the top of the front sight is now level with both sides of the rear open sight.
