How Do You Use Family Poems To Create A New Family Tradition?
Our family has a traditional game we play where we use family poems to connect with one another. The game can be played over the courses of an evening, or over a period of time. Basically you have to pick poems that either describe another family member, or tells them how you feel about them. Other players then have to guess who the poem is about. Not only does it force people to think but many touching and magical moments happen as well. Place all the family member’s names in a hat and mix them all up. Have each family member draw someones name out of the hat other than their own (no sharing of names, it is supposed to be a secret). Each person then has to find a poem that either describes the person whose name they have drawn, or says how they feel about the other person. You can provide poetry books, visit the library for books of poems (if playing over a period of time) or find free poems at online poetry sites.
