How Do You Use Expanding Foam To Fill Household Cracks?
Here’s how to use expanding foam, most commonly sold under the brand name Great Stuff, to fix household cracks that let in outside air. Buy the Great Stuff or similar brand sealer. You can purchase cans of expanding foam sealer at any local hardware store, or at a big box hardware store near the insulation and weatherproofing aisles. On can will cost your around $3 to $5. Locate your household cracks. Locate any areas where fiberglass insulation appears to be missing. Find places where air gets into the house around plumbing, drains, and doors and windows. When you open one can of Great Stuff, you’re expected to use the whole can, so have all your cracks and gaps located and ready to fix before you open the can. You can’t reuse the can because the material dries hard in the straw and nozzle in about half a day. Put gloves on. Then place the clear straw in the nozzle of the can and push the trigger.
