Determine the after-market ink cartridge that will work with your Dell printer. There are several different after-market models; each one will only work with certain printers. Install the print cartridge into your Dell printer. Be sure that you have taken any steps needed to prepare the ink cartridge. Align the print cartridge and print a test page. You can typically have this done by selecting the options to do so on the printer. Because the ink cartridge was not made by Dell, it might not work properly with the printer out of the box.
