How Do You Use Cornstarch In Cooking?

0

Many people do not know how to use cornstarch most effectively. Using the below steps, anyone can easily use cornstarch in cooking. Cook your sauce or gravy until it needs to be thickened. You can tell when your sauce or gravy needs thickening when everything else you are cooking is done, and your sauce or gravy is very hot, just not very thick. I don’t always use cornstarch in cooking. I usually just wait to see if I need it. The trick to using cornstarch in cooking is to mix it with water before adding to the dish. Use about two tablespoons of cornstarch to one quarter cup very hot tap water. Mix them together thoroughly. I put the cornstarch and water into a small container, cover with a lid, and shake vigorously until well-blended. Slowly whisk in your cornstarch and water mixture into your sauce or gravy. Be sure to scrape your pan as you stir to ensure nothing sticks to the bottom of the pan. This makes for a richer sauce or gravy and also makes clean-up easier!
