Composite bats are a relatively new technology in baseball. They are much like an aluminum bat, except that they have graphite on the inside, which makes them lighter and stronger. They are now used in many softball leagues and some baseball leagues, depending on league rules. However, composite bats are different than strictly aluminum bats because it takes longer to break them in. To do this, you’re going to have to take your new composite bat to a batting cage. Choose a batting cage with a pitching machine that only pitches real baseballs with leather covers. Some batting cages use a fake ball that is cheaper to buy, but these balls won’t successfully break in your composite bat. Go to the batting cage on a day when the temperature is warmer than 65 degrees Fahrenheit. A composite bat that is used on a day with a lower temperature has a better chance of breaking.
