Measure 1 Cup Borax and 1 Cup Washing soda (or if you do not have this on hand, you can substitute baking soda), and 1/4 cup of regular old table salt. Add the three above ingredients into a tupperware container with a tight fitting lid or some other airtight container. Thoroughly mix these three ingredients to combine them. I usually just give the container a good shaking to mix it together. Add a tablespoon of the detergent to your dishwasher when you are ready to do a load and run it through the normal cycle that you usually use. Keep it stored in the airtight container.
