How Do You Use Bleach To Clean A Pool?
Testing your pool water and adjusting the chemicals is usually enough to keep the pool clean and clear. But if your pool water takes on a greenish cast, it’s a simple task to use household bleach to clean it. Household bleach is cheaper than chemicals from the pool store, it is readily available and it won’t harm the pool. Make sure you use bleach that has no additives like fragrances or thickeners that might make your pool pump have to work harder. Remove any floating debris using your pool skimmer. Drain the pool. Scrub the sides and bottom with a 50/50 solution of bleach and water. Rinse the pool with a hose and refill. Skip this step if the sides and bottom of the pool aren’t dirty. Add 1 gallon of plain household bleach per 10,000 gallons of water to your pool. Check the label to make sure the bleach is at least 5.95% sodium hypochlorite. Let the pool pump run overnight.
