Analog multimeters performs the same function as digital multimeters, but the analog part of the description refers to how the information the multimeter measures is presented to the user. In a digital multimeter, the meter displays numbers on a display. For an analog multimeter, the information is presented as deflection of a needle across a dial face. Properly reading the numbers on the dial face behind the deflected needle is essential in obtaining an accurate measurement of the alternating current (AC) voltage. Connect your probes to your analog multimeter. Probes are color coded and match the colors on the input jacks. The banana plugs at the end of the probes go into the jacks. Plug the black banana jack into the common jack and the red banana plug into the positive jack. Make sure the jacks are labeled for voltage measurements.
