How Do You Use An AM Radio To Detect Breaks In An Invisible Fence?

0

Invisible fences are marvelous extensions of modern technology that permit pet owners to allow their animals free rein without the need to build extensive fences around the perimeter of the yard. No fence is any good if it breaks, and the same goes for broken wires of an invisible fence. Because invisible fences cannot be seen, the signal must be traced along the buried wire in order to locate the break in the circuit. A standard AM radio is a low-cost yet effective method to locating such a break. Replace the used battery in your AM radio with a new one for best receiver operation. Disconnect the invisible fence wires from their terminals on the transmitting unit. Wrap one fence wire to one of the wire leads coming out of the RF choke and wrap the other wire to the opposite lead. Connect each side of the RF choke to your transmitter just as you would normally connect the wires, one lead to the left terminal and one lead to the right terminal. Turn on your AM radio and tune it to 600 M
