The “fire writing” of the ancient Greeks has survived the test of time and remains a popular art form. Tables, clocks, plaques, and anything else made of wood can and, and has been, decorated using wood burning techniques. With a couple of tools, a few hints and some time to practice, you too can learn to artistically burn wood. Draw or trace your design onto the wood to be burned. Select the tip that you want to use and attach it firmly into the end of the wood burner. Place your wood burner into the wire stand away from any flammable materials. Plug the cord of your wood burner into an electric outlet and turn on the power switch. Allow the wood burner to heat up for 10 minutes. Grasp the wood burner in the same way you would a pen or pencil and ease the point into a corner of your penciled design.
