Rototilling makes fast work of breaking up the ground and preparing it for planting a new tree. The equipment is relatively easy to operate. Rather than attempting to loosen up the soil by hand, you can run a rototiller over it–automatically attacking the first few inches of land, churning it up and creating a better planting surface. Make sure the soil has the right moisture content. Rototilling when the ground is wet is not a good idea. The soil should be moist enough to form a ball shape, but should still crumble under pressure. Rototill the soil just before you are ready to plant a new tree. Make sure the equipment is disengaged before starting it. Adjust the depth adjustment bar in order to choose the depth at you wish to till.
