Reverse-osmosis, or RO systems, are relatively easy to use. Some of the less-complicated models can even be installed by the homeowner. However, some companies mandate that one of their technicians install the unit. After installation there is little maintenance. All you have to do is turn on your faucet. Install the RO system. Some can be installed by you if you’ve got some basic mechanical knowledge, the proper tools and a little time. Reverse Osmosis filters have a separate tank in which filtered water is held because the filtration process is slow. Installation requires the addition of this tank and the filtration system into your water line. For many filters, this is done under the sink by simply disconnecting the pipe which runs to your faucet, running it into the filter and running another pipe out of the outgoing side to the sink.
