How Do You Use A Premixed Thin Set On Marble Tiles?
Using premixed thin-set adhesive takes a bit of the prep work out of laying marble tiles. By using the premixed thin set you can save time on tile installation, quickly applying the adhesive to your surface and then immediately placing the tile. It also removes some of the difficulties in mixing a thin set of precisely the consistency needed for the marble tiles. The disadvantage of using premixed thin set is that it is not a cement based mortar. It’s an adhesive mixed with an aggregate like sand, meaning that it will not give you the same strength of binding as a traditional thin set will. Apply a layer of the premixed thin set onto the surface with the flat layer of a notched trowel. Spread the thin set to a uniform layer slightly lower than the notches in the trowel. Go over the layer of thin set with the notched edge of the trowel, raising the thin set into a series of ridges. The ridges will help to create a firm grip between the surface and the marble tiles.
