Working with pendulums is one of the most popular forms of divination. The pendulum is one of the easiest tools you can use. For thousands of years this tool has been used for dowsing purposes, foretelling the future, seeking answers to nagging questions and healing. In this How To we will look at the basic approach to using the pendulum for divining purposes. Choose a time to work with your pendulum when you know that you will not be disturbed. Sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths to clear your mind and relax. Focus your mind on your intent. Define your purpose, and establish the questions you would like to ask. It sometimes helps to write out the questions, or keywords, beforehand. Once you are focused, hold the pendulum between your thumb and first finger. Some prefer to let the pendulum rest between the first and middle fingers, but I have found that the thumb and first finger work best.
