There are two main reasons to use your modem as a fax machine. The first is, of course, because you don’t have a traditional fax machine. The second reason is that it’s just easier. You don’t have to get up from your computer to send your fax, so you can obtain the same result in a shorter period of time. The person on the receiving end of your fax will never even notice the difference. Go to the start menu in the bottom left corner of your screen. Choose “printers and faxes” from the list on the right side of the menu. Pick “set up faxing” under “printer tasks.” Insert your Windows XP disc when the setup wizard prompts you to. Then the wizard will ask you to select your modem. In most cases you will only have one. But if you have two or more, highlight the one that you’d like to use for faxing.
