How Do You Use A Hand Rivet Gun?
Using a hand rivet gun is an efficient way for joining two pieces of thin metal together. Selecting the proper rivets will depend on the thickness of the metal. The rivet gun generally comes with two or three rivet heads. It expands the possibilities, not only for home crafts, but for more diversified home repair. The home repairs that in the past may have required a contractor can now be done with the use of a hand rivet gun. Clamp the two pieces of thin scrap metal together so they overlap each other by approximately a half-inch. Use the tape measure and pencil to mark an “X” every 2 inches along the length of the metal joint. A good rule of thumb is to run the mark down the center of the overlapping joint. In this instance, the “X” should be placed a quarter-inch from the edge of the overlapping pieces. Install the proper-sized drill bit into the drill motor.
