How do you use a hand held digital multimeter?
There should be 4 function on the average multimeter:Volt meter, current meter, resistance checker and continuity check. They will normally be selectable by a main dial or menu. Both AC and DC voltage and current can be measured. The volt meter allows you to measure the potential difference in voltage between 2 points. – This measurement should be done in parallel. The ammeter or current meter allows you to measure the current flow within your circuit. – This should be done in series. The resistance checker allows you to measure the electrical resistance of a component or circuit. – This should ideally be done in isolation of the rest of the circuit as you could get some funny readings. The continuity checker allows you to check for electrical continuity of a wire of circuit for instance. – It should be done from point to point and should be tested before use by shorting the probes and waiting for the beep to signify short circuit.
