If you have tools you want sharpened you will need a grind stone. When grind stones first evolved they were made of sandstone and had a round shape so they could be rotated rapidly. Sharpening tools takes time, but it is well worth the effort. With sharp tools, projects are made easier. Just the crispness of a sharp cut makes all the time you spent sharpening your tool worth it. Take apart the tool you want to sharpen. It will be easier to use the grind stone and to clean the blades. Scrub your tools with a stiff brush and soapy water. This will remove any rust, dirt and debris from your tools. Examine the blade to determine the correct angle to sharpen your tool. Check the sharpening instructions for your tool–you may need to use the grind stone to sharpen both sides of the same blade.
