The Garmin eTrex Vista is a hand-held GPS device that provides easy-to-use GPS navigation. Whether you want to navigate to an address, point of interest or previously saved location, learning to use the eTrex Vista is simple and can be done in an afternoon. Take your Garmin eTrex Vista GPS device outside, away from mountains, tall buildings or heavy foliage. Hold the GPS receiver so it has an unobstructed view of the sky. Wait for the GPS device to acquire the necessary satellites. It may take a few minutes for your GPS receiver to acquire satellites for the first time. After that, your Garmin eTrex Vista will automatically acquire satellites at start-up. Mark your current location as a Waypoint by pressing and holding the thumb stick until the “Mark Waypoint Page” is displayed. Your Waypoint will be automatically assigned a three-digit identifier.
