Just follow these four easy steps and you will be enjoying your yoyo in no time at all. Tie the string at the end. Most often a freehand yoyo will not have a knot tied at the end of the string. Tie a simple knot with ample room for your middle finger. You may want to measure the thickness of your middle finger to tie the best knot. Slide middle finger through the loop that you tied in the end of the string. Hold the yoyo properly. To properly hold a yoyo, turn the holding hand upside down and cup the yoyo with your hand, making sure that your middle finger (the one in the string loop) is wrapped around the outer edge of the yoyo while the palm of your hand is facing upwards.
