How Do You Use A Ceramic Self-Watering Planter For An Indoor Plant?
Whether you’re out of town a lot or you’re just forgetful, ceramic self-watering planters are an ideal way to keep your houseplants hydrated. Using capillary action and delivering water directly to the soil, self-watering flowerpots also help prevent overwatering. Giving too much water is one of the most common ways people accidentally kill their houseplants. Although you still have to water plants in a self-watering system, you’ll find that these take the pressure off, and most plants will be able to go several weeks without watering. Make sure the outer pot in your ceramic planter is painted, glazed or made of plastic or other non-porous material. This will help it hold water for a longer period of time. Insure that the smaller inner pot of the ceramic planter is not glazed or painted. This pot needs to be porous or it will not be able to absorb water and deliver it to the soil. Wet the inner pot thoroughly before putting soil into it. This will help it absorb water more effectively.
