Making your own furniture at home can be a rewarding endeavor. Upholstering your own living room couch allows you to perfectly coordinate your furniture with your room décor. For example, start with the back before moving onto the front, arms and seat cushions. Lay a piece of upholstery foam over the area you want to cover. Trace out the shape you need to cover the space and cut along your traced template with a utility knife. For added cushion, consider layering your sheets of upholstery foam. Place your foam on your sofa. Apply a layer of spray adhesive to the top of your foam and cover with an even layer of cotton batting.
