How Do You Upgrade & Replace Headlight Bulbs?
Your factory headlight bulbs may need replacing. A direct replacement is possible, but you may want to upgrade the headlight output quality. Most auto parts stores sell a variety of headlight bulbs that will fit your vehicle. The difference is often color quality and brightness. You will still need the part number stamped on the bottom of your old bulb to know what size new bulb to purchase. Open the hood of your vehicle and remove the power connector from the back of the headlight ballast. Turn the bulb counterclockwise and pull it straight out of the housing assembly to remove it. Take the bulb to an auto parts store. Note the part number on the base of the headlight bulb. This will tell you what size and style bulb you need. Choose a bulb brighter than your existing bulb. In general the whiter the bulb, the higher the quality. Some bulbs offer what is called “hyper white” or “hyper blue”. These tend to be the brightest bulbs offered in most auto parts stores, but a “hyper purple” bu
