When using anti-spyware applications, it is essential to keep the spyware definitions up-to-date. The definitions file is the list of known threats to your computer; it is what the application scans your documents against. Without an updated definitions file, spyware, malware and adware can remain on your computer undetected. Most applications include an auto-update feature, updating the definitions upon launch of the application, but you can also force the application to update the definitions on demand. Launch Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware. Select “Web Update” > “Settings.” Enable the option to be notified of updated definitions.
