How Do You Untangle Mats In Bichon Frise Dogs?

0

Bichon Frise dogs are notorious for their mats if they are not brushed everyday. Sometimes we get too busy to deal with it and then, bam! it is out of control. Well instead of spending money at the groomer maybe these will work for you. When you dog is in the mood, or sleepy, put him in your lap or sit on the floor with him. Start where you know there are no tangles and gradually, with the comb, go to where they are and keep going back and forth as to not concentrate too much on the very matted area. It will probably upset him too much to focus only on the matted area. Once you have loosened them a little take the scissor and cut the very badly matted areas in half. Then continue very gently with the comb the very ends of the mat gently working toward the skin each time. If you hurt the dog you may have to stop for a minute. Patience is the key. You may need to do this a little while each day until this is done. For extremely bad mats you may have to cut or shave them.
