If you are like me, you can’t throw old rusty stuff away. When you see an old rusted barrel you just have to load it up and take it home. All those old vintage cast-offs can fill your yard with character and color. Here are a few ideas on how to turn items found in flea markets, thrift stores, and even someone else’s garbage into creative yard art and ornaments. Make a yard light with old telephone insulators. The pole for the yard light is an authentic telephone pole that had been taken down. If you don’t have a telephone pole handy, you can easily make one from a long post and a 4×4. The insulators can be found at yard sales, flea markets, thrift stores, eBay. This yard light makes a great conversation piece. Build a birdhouse using an old rusty license plate as the roof, faded gray barn wood for the house, some wrought iron welded together, old door hinges for the stoop, a vintage rusty water faucet, and a piece of barbed wire as an antenna.
