One of the default settings of Windows XP is Windows Security Center alerting you if either your computer’s firewall or antivirus protection is not working properly or is not installed. This warning is a pop-up balloon and icon that appear on the lower right part of the screen. The balloon can be closed, but the icon remains. By changing the settings of Windows Security Center, you can prevent both the pop-up balloon and icon from appearing in the first place. Click on the start button at the bottom left part of the screen. When the menu appears, click on “Control Panel.” Scroll down until you find the Security Center icon and double-click it. When the Windows Security Center window opens, check under the Resources menu on the left side of the window for the “Change the way Security Center alerts me” option and click it. When the Alert Settings window opens, uncheck the “Firewall,” “Alert Settings” and “Virus Protection” alerts options. Click “OK” and the computer will no longer displa
