A: Cars with controller area networking CAN have codes stored in more than one place up to seven computers all talk to each other. So I reccomend repairing the cause of the check engine light first. Only a Good technician at Nissan can completely test your cars systems. There is not a wire the owner can unplug to clear the engine codes. And there is no GENERIC scanner that can test all the other Nissan systems.
