How Do You Turn A Strapless Top Into A Skirt?
• Whether you plan on starting out with a strapless top or dress, hem the shirt at the top. Make the hem large enough. • If you want a drawstring-waistline, purchase thick string. Otherwise, purchase elastic. Attach a large safety pin to the string/elastic. Push the safety pin into the pocket formed by the hem. • Push tons of fabric onto the safety pin as you feel for it. This should create tiny layers of fabric. Then, once there are a lot, either pull the hem back or pull the pin forward. • Continue doing this until the pin comes out on the other side. If the waist is elastic, sew the ends together and then sew the hem shut. • Try it on. The waist of the skirt has now been created. Try on the skirt to see if it fits. Remember, if you used a strapless dress, it will still look like a fashionable skirt, in the form of a bell bottom. Hem the bottom of the skirt if needed. Add any other embellishments if needed, like fake flowers.
