How Do You Turn A Pen On A Lathe?
A lathe is a machine that is used to shape metal or wood. The lathe turns items on a horizontal axis, shaping them against a fixed tool. Creating stylish wood or acrylic pens is easy once you get the feel for using the lathe, and with it, you can create custom pens that make great keepsake gifts for just about everyone. Use the drill press to drill the center hole in two wood blanks. Make sure this is centered in the square. Remove the pen tube from the pen kit and sand it down. Add glue to the inside of the blank and push the pen tube, in twisting it so glue spreads over the entire inner surface. Check to make sure both ends are flush with the tube and the end of the blank. Use the squaring to drill a rounded imprint on one side of the blanks. Do not expose the end of the pen tube. Place a bushing on the mandrel followed by one blank, then another bushing separating it from the other blank and final bushing. Attach the mandrel to the lathe and turn it on to as high a speed as possible
